I would say at the end of the show, they were probably the biggest couple and they deserved a real soap-style, fairy-tale ending.

I <3 that you imagine Izzie in Florida based on my fic! Beautiful Izzie. I still think about her and wonder what she's up to and hope she's okay but that she still misses her Seattle people sometimes even if she doesn't let herself linger on it. I love your idea of her having this whole other life and then Meredith followed at some point by Alex just basically showing up on her doorstep. There's so much to work with there ( ... )

I feel like a horrible Izzie fan for saying this, but I kind of don't picture Izzie having the best life? Like, not a horrible life, she eventually pulls her shit together and finishes a residency program (though she probably would never be a surgeon at this point, right? she left/was kicked out of Seattle Grace's program like 3 times), she was in such a bad mindset and probably felt so lonely and forgotten about that I think it would take a lot, and a long time for her to ever open up about anything.

and then Meredith followed at some point by Alex just basically showing up on her doorstep. And just to clarify...after Derek's funeral, Meredith just took off with her kids in the middle of the night without telling anyone or telling anyone where she was going, and over the course of the episode (which was meant to be about a year), it's implied that Alex calls her every single day just trying to make sure she's all right (precious cupcake!) and just once she answers, saying that she's fine and the kids are fine and to just stop ( ... )
