There is always a choice.
I will give you all a moment to stop sobbing. I feel like this moment, and these words encapsulated everything about what drove Spartacus through the mutiny and rebellion. Yes, he took revenge for Sura (and she said something on this variation, and so have several other characters), but this was the moment where Spartacus realized that he was a slave. He had sort of started to bask in the glory of being champion, and getting very chummy with Batiatus (remember their chess dates?) and this moment brought all of that crashing down, how very little regard there was for him, for any of their lives. His brother was cut down at whim of a child, and the Romans politely applauded and continued on with their party. It was honestly one of the saddest things I've ever seen.
There are shippier quotes that I could have gone with (You are my heart, I will never doubt the beating of it again.) and stuff that just made me laugh out loud (You hemorrhage-sucking son of a fucking whore!) but I had to go with that, because it's kind of the message of the whole show.
