I Want To Be Forever Young
I thought I’d do a line-by-line reaction of the finale. I very rarely watch in real time, so I am tonight. Some respect, anyway. Here we go.

Okay so...Jake McDormand *actually* broke his wrist. And I have a feeling that they’ll be using this as an excuse to write another ‘Cappie and Evan are fighting over Casey’ story. Joy.
I’m already so annoyed. The focal point of the SERIES FINALE is whether or not the KT’s will lose their house? There’s only been, like, four other episodes just like this. And Casey still hasn’t learned to keep statements like that to herself?
And continuing right on with stuff that is slowly starting to annoy the hell out of me...Seriously, Ashleigh/Rusty started four episodes ago. And now they get all of this SERIES FINALE ‘suspense’? I wouldn’t be surprised at this point (9:14) if the last scene is their freakin’ wedding.
Oh good. The kid whose name I just learned this very episode is going to be the vice-hero of the SERIES FINALE.
Okay...now they’re starting to get me with the prank at Parkes Park. It’s very reminiscent of the first KT prank to help Rusty hand in his paper. (Awww, how far we’ve come.) And, ANDREW!
Here we go: envelope of DOOM. Aaaaaannnnnd....yeah, Cappie’s free and clear. Good thing, because I was really worried!
Honestly, at this point, I don’t think I’m even looking forward to an Evan/Rebecca reunion. He’s been so douchey these past few episodes (and that used to be what I liked best about him). But, I *would* enjoy seeing one last Cappie/Rebecca scene. And I really did always like Dale and Laura.
You know, I just realized that they’re doing the whole sitcom SERIES FINALE staple, with the gang moving out of the old family house. It’s just so...man, I wish I wasn’t this underwhelmed at 9:30.
But...there’s Beav with a keg, and...there’s the slight stirring of my heartstrings. Never change Beaver. Never change, Heath. Never. OMG. WADE. YOU GUYS. They’re really doing it!
CATHERINE. HAVE 10000 OF BEAVER’S BABIES AND BECOME THE FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT. NEVER CHANGE. Jen K! I totally forgot all about you.
Casey’s arc has been so ridiculous this season. Not every lawyer is a blood-sucking demon, and her first semester at law school isn’t going to define the rest of her life. Way to stay ridiculous, Felicity.
EVAN! That was so...not earned at all. No one saw how he got there. What the fuck.
You know, it’s really annoying after all that this all went through. I fully expected someone to finally save the day (in all honesty, probably Rusty). Like...it didn’t need to get ‘realistic’ now.
Okay, so commercial break? My brother was a Kappa Tau in college (I mean, they were Tau Epsilon at his school, but same idea), and it’s just so...annoying. Like, yeah, they were the partying frat, and he’s still really close with a lot of the guys, but my brother’s working on his second graduate degree and he’s not even all that unusual for his friends. It was never this Bain-of-the-University thing.
Yeah, yeah, Cartwright SERIES FINALE scene. I have to say, I never loved this sibling relationship, and I am usually a huge sucker for the like.
Oh, oh, OH! Evan/Rebecca. Okay, I’m a sucker. He punched the wall! Okay, I’m a sucker. That’s it? Okay, then. Out with a whimper, it is.
Did anyone ever doubt that Rusty would be the next KT president? Anyone? Bueller? Didn’t think so.
Here we go, Ashleigh/Casey SERIES FINALE scene. Ah, let’s make it all about Ashleigh/Rusty, which has been a very important thread running throughout the entire series. Or not. Ah, out with a whimper, it is.
Confession time...I never really got into Cappie/Casey/Evan as a threesome, even as friends. Like, seriously? It was one episode that showed their history. I know this won’t be very popular, but whatever. ‘OT3’ SERIES FINALE SCENE. Cheers to everyone. Thanks for your blessing, Evan. Sucker.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Ashleigh/Rusty SERIES FINALE scene! I hope they kiss/get engaged/have 10000 babies! Oh, they’re dating! YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYS. Gosh, this sucks so much. I hate this series finale, and I am usually such a SERIES FINALE sucker. Sucker.
Get ready, it’s finale, montage time. Final, FINAL scenes. Will Cappie get to take his test? *bites nails* Oh, he pulled it out, in One Final Voiceover. What we’ve all learned. Phew. And SOBS. And meh. (Bitter, table of one?)
Underwhelming name, named after the Beatles, but whatevs. Calvin’s inspired! And Dale lavaliered Laura! And Rusty’s ass! EW. Long live KT! BECAUSE THE WHOLE SHOW HAS BEEN ABOUT NOTHING ELSE. (There’s room at this Bitter table, if I can buy any of you a drink.)
Rebecca/Casey is what gets me in the end. Dilshad Vadsaria, never change. And I am serious on that.
