Finally catching up on these advent fic-lets! Did not forget! Yay!

Days 10-13...

for xlivvielockex:

“…Jessica Thompson from Vogue called, they want you to work on the GaGa issue, and you’re also invited to L.A. for the premiere of the new Aronofsky film…which means you’re probably going to be asked to be the wardrobe consultant for the next one…” her intern furiously shuffled through her notepad, searching for the next message.

“Caroline, Caroline…slow down,” Ashleigh held up a hand. She smiled. This girl was new, after all. “Caroline…did you even get up from your desk to pee today?”

The girl blushed. “Well, um…”

“Oh my gosh, you didn’t! I was joking!” Ashleigh rolled her eyes and sighed. “What are you, a senior in college?”

“Junior at NYU.”

Ashleigh smiled more gently. “You are working way too hard. It’s Friday night. I want you to go home, take a nap for an hour, and then go out.”

Caroline blinked. “What do you mean?”

“A bar! A club! Do something! Go flirt with a cute boy with no future!” Ashleigh exclaimed.

“Ms. Howard, I still have to process the inventory, and…”

Ashleigh laughed and got up from her desk. “Honey, let me be the first to tell you…There is always time for inventory…there’s not always time for minimal consequences in your twenties. Trust me, go out.” She put an arm around Caroline and nudged her towards the door. “And take some of the Versace samples with you!”

for pencil_gal:

“Why didn’t you speak up?” Draco heard his father’s voice as if it were miles away, and did not look up until Lucius shoved him hard against the wall, holding him by the collar of his worn school shirt. “Answer me, boy!”

“Lucius!” His mother’s cries were far away too, and Draco focused on his father’s cold, silver-grey eyes.

“I…I couldn’t…” Draco began, without a notion as to how to finish that sentence. He couldn’t face Hermione Granger, couldn’t bring himself to say her name. He couldn’t openly weep with gratitude that she was safe, or at least…away from here. Away from him, away from his family. “I couldn’t be sure that it was her, Father.”

Lucius struck him with the back of his hand, knocking him to the floor. “Weak, coward…who knows what you and your sympathy for the mudblood girl has done for us all now.”

Draco dragged a hand across his mouth, smearing it with blood. “I’m sorry, Father.”

Lucius looked down at his only son with disgust in his eyes and walked away with a sneer, Narcissa following after him.

Left alone in the hallway, Draco leaned back against the wall, breathing deep and ignoring the ache in his jaw. “Hermione,” he whispered, finally allowing himself to say her name. “Be safe.”

for suivreletoile:

“But why, Lilly?” Veronica tried to keep the tremble out of her voice and failed. Lilly wouldn’t look her in the eye. Something was wrong. It was too very wrong.

“Look, it’s just best for the both of you this way,” Lilly said, but she still looked away, and there was doubt in her voice. Lilly was never less than 100% sure of anything. She gathered Veronica into her arms and stroked a hand down her hair. “Shh…I’m so sorry, Veronica. Please don’t cry.”

Don’t cry? Veronica hadn’t been able to breathe in days. Last week, she had never known unhappiness. But all of a sudden, Duncan wouldn’t speak to her, wouldn’t look at her…avoided her at all costs. Last week, they were in love. This week, she was still in love. What had happened? “But…but you said…you said you were going to fix this,” Veronica sobbed softly, and she heard Lilly’s voice catch.

“This…this can’t be fixed. I’m so sorry,” Lilly spoke so quietly, so very unlike Lilly.

Veronica thought back to the last time she had spoken to Duncan, the last time they kissed. It had just been a normal, sweet kiss good-bye. She hadn’t expected it to be the last or she would have kissed him forever.

for ndnickerson:

Elizabeth had never known that there was activity in waiting. Of course, she wasn’t just waiting- there was William to care for, of course, and then there was caring for herself. They wouldn’t last hurricane season on this tiny island without some proper shelter, and every day Elizabeth was adding on to the small cottage she was teaching herself to build. She had no experience with carpentry, of course- somehow, it was not included in the lessons from her governess growing up- but she was learning, and the walls and roof seemed sturdy enough.

Over the years, Elizabeth learned that there would be cycles to her waiting. Of course, the real change of the tides was every ten years, when the Ferryman came ashore. The second time he saw his son, they were the same age, and the third time, William Turner III, Billy Blackboot as he had come to be known, was older than his father.

Elizabeth was far older, too, many years older than her husband. He was like a boy, like a distant memory of childhood, cherished, but still far away.

The cycle of Will Turner, the Ferryman, came around once every ten years.

And in between those long decades, there was Jack Sparrow and the tides of time.

So! Anyway, what's up with you guys? I saw Black Swan on Saturday, and have been appropriately freaked out by mirrors ever since. I guarantee you, if this movie had come out even three weeks earlier, it would have been all over Yuletide. And guess who has two thumbs and would have been requesting Wrong!Dirty!Bad! Nina/Thomas fic? *This chick*...
