Eh....

I just cannot write. It just hasn't been in me for days.

It will come back, though, because I know what happens next....

I'm at my parents house, doing some laundry. On my way over, I stopped by B&N to kill some time, and because I lost my copy of my very favorite book of all time in the flood. Do you guys happen to know what it is? Heehee, I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before. Okay, I'll tell you.

Peter Pan.

*G* Weren't expecting that, were you? LOL, well, my old copy was a plain paperback, without any embellishments, but I decided to splurge this time, and bought the $25 hardcover I bought for my nephew when he was born, that is just so gorgeously illustrated, take a look. Highly recommended if you know of a child with a birthday coming up. (It can't be all Dora and Kung Fu Panda all the time, they should know real fairy tales, too.)

I also bought Perfect Chemistry, a trashy teen romance novel that reads like Julie/Santiago fanfic (if Julie was a cheerleader who felt alienated by her family, which is far from the case). So all right, it's probably more like Claire Standish/John Bender (The Breakfast Club) fanfic if Bender was Latino. Either way, the author is far better than Stephenie Meyer, and I wanted to take a little break from Harry Potter, stretch out the experience a little.

Speaking of which, I and I must say I breathed a sigh of relief. I'd been steeling myself for Dumbledore's death, I knew someone was supposed to die, and I thought I had heard somewhere that it would be him, but I guess I read wrong. It was a good thing I read his speech at the end to Harry at home- I would have embarrassed myself crying on the train.

Sorry guys, I'm just not a fan of Sirius. He just irritates the crap out of me whenever he's in a scene, and I really don't get Harry's tie to him. Yes, he's his godfather, but that just seems like a formal title, and it seemed that Lupin was *just* as good a friend to James and Lily. Lupin, who is calm and rational, and who I just like a whole lot better. Sirius, the more I learn about him, and at the risk of sounding like a twelve-year-old, really just sounds like a conceited jerk.

Now, I'm pretty sure Harry's going to go around for a good deal of the next book, blaming the whole world, and being really angry about Sirius's death, which is the downside.

I'm still firmly in Snape's corner, though he's still a pretty big prick when it comes to the little stuff. (Deducting points on the last day of school when Gryffindor had no points left to take.) But, I just wish Harry would start seeing things from his point of view. I'm not saying he has to like him, or transfer his hero worship from Sirius to Severus, but he was so outraged when Snape seemingly ignored him in Umbridge's office about rescuing Sirius- didn't he realize at this point that Snape couldn't just go and out himself as a member of the Order? And with the Occlumency lessons, everyone who cared about Harry and whom he trusted (even Sirius) told him that it was the most important work he could do that year, and yet he stubbornly refused to put any effort into it, still somehow believing that they were all out to get him.

Ah well. I still can't dislike Harry- JKR just portrays his age *too* realistically.

So then, where are we with the rest of our 'heroes'? Well, I can see how the Harry/Hermione ship got some steam after this book came out (as it seems to have- it's hard to tell on timelines looking at it six years later). I feel like there was far less Hermione/Ron interaction in this book than in previous, so I'd be excited to get back to that. Some people have said that this book was their least favorite, and while I still quite enjoyed it, it was clearly a lot darker than the rest (which is natural, considering what happened after Cedric Diggory died) and the romantic comedy dynamic between Hermione and Ron is a nice break from all the drama. And mind you, it's not ridiculous kind of comic relief, and it all perfectly blends into building their lovestory. I'm pretty sure the books are all going to get darker from this point on, but I know that the canon ships that are revealed in the Epilogue (I'm 100% sure on Ron/Hermione and I'd say 100% sure on Harry/Ginny, but I'm curious about the rest) are all going to have to start emerging, as well.

Neville....Well, you have grown up, haven't you, Longbottom? I quite enjoyed him in this book. In fact, I enjoyed seeing the change and growth of a lot of the Hogwarts students that really becomes apparent in this book. The separation of Seamus and Harry, which had to have been uncomfortable in that dorm room, and the way the boys came back together in the end. And then, after the OWL's, when Dean and Seamus are trying to put together a party (with firewhiskey!) to celebrate the end of exams- the 'kids' are finally teenagers, and now the real fun begins! The twins are just a hot, sexy mess and I really need to go be more proactive in finding more fic about them. Any recs? I just don't know who I'd like them paired with, since I feel like I'm already whoring Hermione out a bit too much (shipping D/Hr, L/Hr, S/Hr, V/Hr) and also, there is the kinkiness of I sort of feel like these two boys wouldn't separate for *anything*, so....I can't *wait* to see their portable swamp on film.

Oh, and btw, I also finally got to see Goblet of Fire this weekend, and so, SO much fun. Edward Cullen! LOL, I couldn't help thinking that every time I saw him. And I loved, LOVED Viktor Krum and Hermione, and have such a soft spot for the first boy who finally took notice of her. I hope to see him again, even though I have a nagging suspicion that if I do, he's not going to meet a great ending.

Okay, I know it's the Harry Potter series, but...I do wish that these were written with a bit more of an ensemble feel to them. It's just a wish of mine, because I'm curious what goes on, in say a prefect's meeting, or in the Slytherin common room, or the staff room. But that doesn't happen, because Harry needs to be in every scene. Now, I'm not criticizing JKR, by any means, and it's only because she's created these intensely fascinating characters, that I just want to know more about them. But alas, if wishes were horses....

Back to your regularly scheduled LJ-ing, already in progress.
