At first I was like, it's not that serious when it came to this film. Now that I've viewed it obsessively, I have some feelings to express. I dig seeing Black and Asian folk work together. I don't know if Yune wrote the story line in this way purposely or if there was an "open" casting call and Bokeem Woodbine and Keith David fit the bill. Either way, I dig the fact that these 3 men are a family. It happens. Despite these positive factors, the story is lacking.
There is something that rings hollow about this film and I can't quite place my finger on it. Oh yeah, here it is:
- poor production values
- the DP should've been fired
- the fight choreographer should've been fired
- Rick needs to improve his writing skills
- the leading lady was lovely, but a shitty actress
- Rick is a stone cold fox
- Keith & Bokeem saved this film - that's not saying much
- the director should've been fired
- Rick needs to improve his acting
I guess all I can say is: Nice try. I appreciated the effort, but if as Rick states, the writers were too expensive and didn't get his vision, then he needs to take script writing classes.
