The 5th Commandment

At first I was like, it's not that serious when it came to this film.  Now that I've viewed it obsessively, I have some feelings to express.  I dig seeing Black and Asian folk work together.  I don't know if Yune wrote the story line in this way purposely or if there was an "open" casting call and Bokeem Woodbine and Keith David fit the bill.  Either way, I dig the fact that these 3 men are a family.  It happens.  Despite these positive factors, the story is lacking.

There is something that rings hollow about this film and I can't quite place my finger on it.  Oh yeah, here it is:
  • poor production values
  • the DP should've been fired
  • the fight choreographer should've been fired
  • Rick needs to improve his writing skills
  • the leading lady was lovely, but a shitty actress
  • Rick is a stone cold fox
  • Keith & Bokeem saved this film - that's not saying much
  • the director should've been fired
  • Rick needs to improve his acting
I guess all I can say is:  Nice try.  I appreciated the effort, but if as Rick states, the writers were too expensive and didn't get his vision, then he needs to take script writing classes.

nice but no cigar, blasian film, 5th commandment
