I'm back

Just realized how long it's been since I last updated my journal. Time flies, seriously... The older I get the faster time goes by, it's depressing. When I was a kid I used to look forward to all the holidays and remembered each of them in vivid details. Not anymore, days, weeks, months go by with a blink of an eye. So, a quick recap of what happened this/last year:

1) I got a new job! Yep, I'm an Amazonian now going onto my second month. So far so good, except for the stress and very long hours that I put in. The job in itself is interesting and challenging, but very demanding and too detail-oriented for my liking. The team is wonderful though - very educated, smart, driven. Plus I couldn't wish for a better boss - the guy is very understanding, supportive and ready to cover your back any minute. And, I'm taking the bus now!!! Wohoo, never understimate the power of not having to drive, being able to listen to music, take a nap, chat, read, not have to concentrate and spend hours in traffic - that's by far the greatest perk of my new job. For those who dont' know, I used to drive 40 miles each way to work before to the place people usually take day trips to. Oh, and did I mention my office is in the tallest building in Washington state?

2) Almost moved to Amsterdam. I still bite my nails sometimes that I didnt' take up the opportunity, but all in one I think I made the right decision by staying in Seattle. I had a job offer from my previous company to work in Amsterdam for a few years. After a tedious process of weighing all pros and cons of moving & taking on that job, I decided to go for the Amazon position. I was going from one extreme to the other. I would wake up one morning with an intention of moving and a clear mind that this is the final decision, but the next day would completely change my mind. Anyhow, it's done and there is no looking back.

3) I travelled to Moscow, Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Israel - all within 2 months, and I keep craving new adventure and excitement of experiencing a new place. I can go on for days sharing my memories from these trips, but dont' think you'd have enough stamina to last that long :) All in one, these trips were amazing!!! Especially Israel- an unforgetable experience. I'd love to come back to that place someday.

Look, only 120 KM from Baghdad, and 60 KM to Damascus.  Everything is so close here!

Swimming in the Dead Sea.  It's impossible to drown there b/c the high concentration of salt pushes you up like  a cork.
I've seen people laying in the water reading a newspaper :-)
