I registered for the Spring 2009 semester today. Hopefully it will be my last semester of undergrad so I decided to just take classes I’m moderately interested and other fluff courses in to get up to the total number of credits required to graduate (i.e. 120). I only need 13 more credits to go, and so I’ve enrolled into three 3 credit courses and one 4 credit science lab.
MUSC 105 - Music Theory for Non-Majors (3 Credits)
PHIL 380 - Philosophical Topics: Phenomenology of the Other (3 Credits)
PHIL 381 - Philosophical Topics: The Metaphysics of Parallel Universes (3 Credits)
BIOL 115 - Biology: The Science of Life (4 Credits)
I have no real idea what the course on “The Metaphysics of Parallel Universes” is going to be about. I’ve asked around the department and no one even knows who the professor is who is scheduled to teach it. Hopefully enough people sign up for it so that it runs.
In other news, I recently received the following message on my YouTube account with the subject line “Brain Help.”
My question is what is the name of that mental phenomenon that happens when your in a heated debate & all of a sudden your brain is paralyzed & you start to fumble or mumble your words or you start studdering & you can't think straight.
At this point the debate is over & you end up looking like some freak with mental problems. what causes this & how can I induce this state in others. this is a lethal power to have if you can harness it.
I tried to google this subject under many terms but I can't seem to find anything but I know most people have experienced this at one time or another.
Also, the following video was posted as a response to a video I uploaded of Thomas Metzinger discussing his book "Being No One." The video has since been reposted as a response to another video, but I figured it was weird enough to share. My personal favorite is 2:58 to 3:10.
