Poll John in adverts
Just thought of this question after hearing there's a new car advert using snippets of a 1968 interview of John. Then there's that charity laptop commercial. Then there was one that promoted Cisco Telepresence with his track "Only People" played on top of it.
On one hand I think it's evil - just because it's John and I don't think he as a person should be co-opted for causes he might not necessarily have supported, especially corporations. It's kind of turning him into an image, or even a character.
But then I think it's not my place to care and Yoko probably thinks it's also getting kids aware of his music and his legacy. So...
Also, unrelated, saw this review of Tuesday night's "We Are Plastic Ono Band" concert in Brooklyn, NY.
I don't like listening to Yoko's music, but I love it's message. No matter what Yoko's done as a person, I'll always admire her for her art. The intellectual and artistic parts of her mind are just wonderful, I love her as an artist.
