I know, I always wondered what he would have said when people asked him these sorts of questions, did he avoid them or did he make up the answers?

This is so heartbreaking; it's perfectly written, and it's perfectly believable. I can see Sam doing this, creating a false history that he himself starts to believe all so that he can fit it and be 'normal'.

Thank you so much! Poor Sam was losing it a little. It must be hard for him to grow up only knowing two people, separate from regular civilisation, then suddenly be a part of the normal world but without the only people he has in his life.
