The bit with Brady in hospital was so sad. My heart just broke for Sam. I love how you explored how Sam having supernatural synaesthesia changed the direction of the show's plot significantly, especially how Azazel couldn't watch over Sam with Sam remaining unaware.

In the original version of this, Sam's life went exactly as it is in canon and ended after he jumps into the Cage. Eventually I figured that wouldn't make sense because Sam isn't oblivious to the demons following him. Sadly, Brady sort of took Jess' place as the person Sam lost, and Sam ends up doing exactly what Azazel wanted him to do by going back hunting.

I would really like to explore this a bit more, so maybe there'll be more in the future :) Thanks for commenting!

Wow, this is wonderful! I loved how this has changed the course of Sam's life from canon so much; how he can sense the demons following him, and so he leaves Stanford out of choice, and presumably out of Azazel's plans too. And poor Brady - I felt so bad for him.

Like I was saying to rirren, the original version of this went just like canon and ended with Swan Song, but it seemed more realistic for things to be different if Sam is aware of the demons following him. I've been thinking how things would be; would Sam trust Ruby when he can see her true colours? What effect would something like Lucifer have on him? How would his first meeting with Castiel go?

Lots of things I'd like to explore, if I can find the time!

(And yes, poor Brady! But at least he got to live in this version, same for Jess)

I read a fic a long time ago where Dean is cursed with synesthesia - it's a really interesting idea, especially for someone like me whose senses are rather dull and ordinary. I love this idea that Sam's form of synesthesia is linked to Azazel's plans and that he's able to see monsters this way. It opens up so many possibilities and what ifs.

I see you had thought about continuing this - I'd love to know where you'd take their story next, with this rather different weapon in their armoury...

I did have thoughts about continuing this when I wrote it, not sure if that still stands now. So many fic ideas, so little time!

I do love writing Sam with lots of different unique abilities and I'll probably write something along these lines in the future. Glad you enjoyed this one, thanks for commenting!
