An interesting study published in NYT today: what trait defines longetivity? It is not cheerfulness, or happiness, or optimism, or even good marriage..As it turns out -- conscientiousness (prudence and persistence). What is even more interesting: people who spend lots of time studying, getting several degrees or PhDs, also tend to live longer. As it turns out, long study disciplines their mind so they eventually learn how to be persistent.
Another reason not to graduate on time :-)...Well, I'd better NOT to tell this to my students!
