Days 38, 39 and 40 Manchester (Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April)
I think my dates (numbers, not weekdays) have been out by one for some time…
No real change here. Stayed in bed and coughed. Read and dozed. Too tired to write (bless you bethbethbeth for patience!).
Yesterday (Thursday) it was bucketing with rain, so I ate lunch in the pub downstairs: packet chicken noodle soup (only it did have real chicken in it, so maybe not…) and potato wedges. I asked for some sweet chilli sauce for the wedges (which were good), and nearly croaked on the first bite: I'm accustomed to it being sweet and mild; this was extremely aggressive chilli sauce. I did get used to it, but I hope the weather stays fine so that mid afternoon I can go out for whatever you call a merger between lunch and dinner. And to buy more tissues.
It's sunny today! A very pleasant change from yesterday's heavy rain, to have bars of sunshine falling on the end of my bed. This is my last day in Manchester, so it would be pleasant if it stayed sunny. Clearly I shall have to come back again if I want to see anything of the place beyond the walk to Piccadilly Gardens and along to Arndale shopping centre.
