Severus Snape was a happy and fulfilled man; what was vengeance, after that?

Amen to that.

Severus needs not only to make up for lost time but, it seems to me, to find out what he likes! (And to get good at it. He's the sort of bloke who works at it.)

After that the thing developed a rhythm of its own, and Severus added names to the list on the basis of his own wishes, not just where he thought the odds were good.

That is the most hopeful, cheering line! And I thoroughly enjoyed reading this; it’s lovely. :D

Thank you! I realised afterwards that without consciously intending it I'd moved his attitude from reactive to proactive, as well as allowing him hope and enjoyment. My subconscious was certainly on a roll yesterday!

Nice. I really like that he finally finds some peace and contentment.

We all want that for him, since JKR never got around to it. Thanks.

Oh, how nice. I like being able to think of Lucius and Narcissa as occasionally thoughtful and loving people, even if it is in a kinky and twisted way. :) And although I actually do like Ron, I sometimes have a problem with thinking of him as incredibly ... gifted ... in certain arenas, so I'm quite glad that Hermione found herself a tutor! Nice job!

There's no doubt the Malfoys have their own interpretation of moral and social imperatives! But their fierce love for their son suggests they can, when they choose, be thoughtful and loving. As for poor Ron - maybe having Hermione walk out would be a wake-up call. He's so immature in canon, even after everything that happened, and there's no doubt that he and Hermione appear woefully unsuited to each other. Which means massive effort to make the marriage work. She seems the type to undertake it; him - well, I'm not so sure.
