This and that

I’ve been extremely busy lately. I started the renovation of my flat.

When I first moved in a few years ago everything was done in simple white. That was fine since I like bright clean colours. But lately I’ve found it somehow lacking. Over the years it became a bit boring. So I’ve decided to renovate and be a bit more confident about colours.

My library / office / guestroom was the first. Due to a very unlucky timing I had to do most of it alone. Means clearing the room of all stuff, removing the old wallpaper (turned out to be three and the oldest, late 70th or early 80th was very, very reluctant), painting the ceiling and after that calling the painter to affix the new wallpaper (that’s something I just can’t do myself). But I can report that doing all that stuff on your own has a positive side effect: I’ve lost five pounds! Yeah!

Now the room has one blue wall and three in a light cream tone with a fitting bordure and a modern and bright ceiling lamp. The carpeted floor is cream tinged with grey and beige and is newly covered by a rustic rug in blue with a bit of beige. The rug was pure luck, I’ve found it on sale for only 65 €. Combined with my white furniture and the dark brown window frames and door I now have a room with a definite navy touch. I’m so pleased with the result. I’ve always liked the seaside and it has that touch in a somehow modern way.

Speaking about the seaside: in between I’ve went for a five day trip to Travemünde. Simply wonderful. It was very relaxing. The weather was fine, not too hot, just right for long walks. And Travemünde actually deserves the name town. We went shopping too and I found some beautiful, very modern candles from a Swiss company named Amabiente.

Then there was the school enrolment of my youngest nephew. I’ve gifted him with a day at the zoo in the next town. After seven hours I was relieved to give him back whole and hale. Kids at that age are really more stressful than a long day at the office. I went to bed at 8 p.m.. With a book, but nonetheless. ;-)

Now my summer holidays have begun and I’m starting with my living room. Good thing being busy again because the weather this October is so cold and uncomfortable spending time outside this year isn’t an issue for me. But since my internet connection has been changed my connection is now in my office. Which means I will be able to catch up with my flist during breaks. I haven’t really decided about my living room jet but I’m so anxious to see how it will look like after I’m done.
