More exciting than Christmas!
Tastier than Easter!
My favourite time of the year:
EUROVISION!
I avoided the internet and the news all weekend so that I could watch the final and be completely surprised by the winner: Each year it airs in Australia (thank god for
SBS, otherwise we wouldnt get it at all) almost 12 hours after the event, so the winner is known by the time we get to watch it, which annoys me no end as I like to be surprised when the votes are being tallied and the winner announced. Makes it feel a little more like I'm actually there.
I was disappointed that Estonia did not make the final. I thought their song was fun and funky, and I will never understand how Belarus got through and they didnt. Ah, the mystery of Eurovision!
I'm happy with the winner: It was a good song. There were, however, many good songs this year, and some of my personal favourites in the final included:
Ukraine,
Albania,
Romania,
Iceland, and
Germany (the winner). I would have been content had either of those taken out the top prize.
Did anyone else find the voting a little less political and obvious this year? I was suprised by number of countries not voting the way I expected them to. It does make a nice change, though.
And can anyone tell me why countries like Italy and Austria are not in the Eurovision Song Contest? I'm always confused by that!

I apologise for my absence of late, but I have been super busy with work and study that I rarely find the time to get online and update. Plus I have little to write about since I spend all my time either at the office or with my head in textbooks. Such an exciting life I lead!
Hopefully the coming weeks will prove a little more interesting: A 6-week break from studies, a relaxing get-away booked, a small mountain of books waiting to be read...
I should have a book review to share at some point over the coming days: I am almost finished my current read, which I have enjoyed immensely, and cannot wait to tell you all about it.
