A new year, and some updates
So I realized that I hadn’t really updated since the holidays, and only really got on to wish everybody a happy new year a few weeks back. Its time to be back at work now, and last week we got a day off work for the snow & ice down here in GA. For me that’s particularly incredible cause where I work NEVER closes for weather incidents. Over the holidays I started a D&D campaign with my family & friends (5 total players in all, not including myself)., and I’m having fun with that. The theme of the world is very horror-esque where zombies are an everyday part of life. Things got a little harried in our last session when one of the party members completely died. Hey, I’m still getting used to being a DM! This is my first campaign I’ve ever run after all… =)
So I’m kind of trying to plan out where to go from there. I’ve got a couple of idea in mind but haven’t really had the time to sit down and plan it all out. I’m thinking I might have to take a raincheck on this week’s session and continue it next week, simply because I need planning time. I suppose I ought to have more of a detailed idea of how to get from A to B, but I like to see what the Party plans on doing. I had no idea somebody would die like that, and so now I’m curious about how this is going to turn out.
I’m thinking of creating an entire friends-locked community just so I can go in and put my ideas for the campaign in one place since I’m typically on multiple computers during the day, and I find a notebook too cumbersome to carry around with me all the time…
Anyway, other than D&D stuff, I’ve been itching to do a lot more writing lately. I got an awesome review on my Two’s Company Harvey/Joker fic last week that really made me happy. And the batfic community put up some banners where my stuff had come in on the final running, so that made me pleased as well. I also want to sit down and write more movie/book reviews. I haven’t linked it here before, but My Review Blog is something I plan on working on more, just cause its fun and helps me really analyze a piece. I watched The Changeling from Netflix a week or so ago and have been wanting to sit down and work on that review more. So expect new pieces to be added soon. =)
Looking back on last year, I’m amazed by all the stuff that was accomplished. Got a new house, got a full-time job, I lost my sweet little kitty Max, but gained a new kitty Salem in the process as well. All in all, it’s been one helluva year and I’m moving onto the next one. My New Year’s Resolution was to go to Centergy class (like Yoga) more often and to exercise more, which I’ve actually been staying on top of. Wish me luck!
