Just a short update on word metrics today. Yesterday was awesome, but it was still tough to open this piece that's been gathering dust for a few months. Got some fun dialogue in though, and finally got the plot moving again. For a while there, I was afraid that I was going to be stuck at that scene forever. Then I realized I just had to make a character more ambitious. I've got so many people in this piece though that I had to go back and try to recall all their names. That's not good.
As an aside I found out Scrivener has a name generator now. I didn't see that until I went looking at their main site again earlier today. I love how you can choose the country the name comes from and even look up meanings for different names. I swear I'm always finding new cool features with this software! :)
Project: Secrets of Leekston
Summary: Leekston is an unassumingly quiet southern town, but it hides many secrets. An unusual government entity studies the supernatural activity in the area, but for what purpose? A crazy scientist runs a research lab of particular patients, and his daughter may pay the price for the people he's maimed. Six years after the incident at the Kayak Hills subdivision, sixteen year-old Suzie Daper once again must protect her family, this time from a bloodthirsty werewolf pack bent on destroying anyone standing in the way of their vengeance.

Progress in Story: Some really fun dialogue in addition to some grotesque descriptions. These scenes were fun (if difficult) to write. I've been wanting to get in and work with these characters for a while now, so it was fun to be with them again. Most importantly, the plot is no longer a stalled out vehicle in the middle of the interstate. It's actually going somewhere, though where that is I'm not quite sure yet, but it's sure to be a fun ride regardless.
