¡Holas Amigos!

Ecuador is a beautiful country! Everything is mountains and jungles and rivers and waterfalls and the most amazing variety of hummingbirds!

I spent the first 4 days in Quito, the capitol for those of you who ain't edu-ma-cated. It's a huge city, not my scene so much, but a nice city.

I'm living in Los Bancos, a small town northwest of Quito. I'm working with the Christian Childrens' Fund on their Bright Futures program. Lisa and I designed and are now teaching two workshops one on early childhood development and the other on gender. It was pretty intimidating at first but the people are great and we've been having a blast! Starting the 27th we'll be doing visits to the new kindergartens they are starting in the community to work with the teachers in some kind of practical training situation, we haven't quite figured that out yet. Anyway, I'm busy as hell.

The weekends we have free and are trying to take full advantage of. Last weekend we went to Atatcames, the Myrtle Beach of Ecuador, it was wild but fun, as long as there's an ocean I'm happy, right? This weekend we're staying with Lisa's host family in Quito and today we went to Otovalo, the indigenous capitol, and bought a lot of gorgeous weaving and such! Tomorrow we're going to celebrate fathers' day with the fam and then head back to jump back in Monday morning.

I hope you're all enjoying your summers! I love you! Keep in touch!
