I have decided that media sucks. Yes, random rant. I was watching CMT this morning and watched a commercial for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Try-Outs. I'm a native Texan. The commercial made me sick! The organization is more concerned about filling out their uniforms then people's feelings and talent. And as evidenced by the Cowboys/Giants game, it's showing!
They were horrible. I watched the first season just out of sheer curiousity and it was horrible! HORR-I-BLE! They asked a 6 foot tall girl who was an awesome dancer to lose weight when she was already skinny! They eliminated geniunely good dancers for thinner girls. It just disgusts me! It is people like them that are the reasons that teenager cheerleaders have eating disorders!
Hopefully, someday they'll realize the negative image they are giving to girls and young women. Doubtful, because as long as there are slobbering jerks to drool over them, they'll keep it the same.
