Alabama liquor laws

  • Except in certain cities, alcoholic beverages sales must cease at 2 am on Sunday and may not resume until 12:01 am Monday morning (Champagne Sunday brunch - forget about it)
  • It is against the law to transport more than one case of beer and three quarts of wine into or through the dry county. There is no sales of alcoholic beverages in dry county. (Map of Alabama dry and wet counties http://abc.alabama.gov/wet_dry.aspx )
  • All alcoholic beverages purchased outside the state of Alabama are illegal inside the state of Alabama and are considered contraband (now, all moving to AL - do not forget to dump your Chateau Lafitte before crossing the state border)
  • Draft beer is illegal in Alabama unless the county has passed a special law allowing draft beer.
  • Alabama is one of only four states in the country that limits alcohol by volume (ABV) for beer to only 6%, and the only state that limits beer containers to a size of no more than 1 pint (473ml)
