Yesterday I spent a wonderful day around the house, doing yard work with my lady. After 7 days
on the road, which we split between
Los Angeles,
Yosemite,
Lassen Volcanic National Park, and the
Lava Beds National Monument (plus
other unlikely and
unusual destinations along those
many roads) we were happy to finally get home Wednesday night. Though life on the road has many rewards, there's nothing quite like the comfort of home.
If you want to see more photos,
I've got an album up you can browse through.
This isn't the first road trip we've taken, of course. We went to
Eastern Oregon last year,
The Oregon Coast the year before, and
Southern Oregon shortly after we got together. It was, however, the longest we've been on the road, and before we rolled into town on Wednesday, our trip odometer crossed the
2500 mile mark -- a daunting feat.
The week also saw us celebrating our 3rd anniversary, another milestone, and we renewed our commitment to each other with a long night of reminiscing about where we'd been, and what we'd seen, together over those years. We waxed nostalgic about the first few weeks our of our romance, and what each of us was thinking, and imagined what our future might look like. I don't like to get sentimental, but it's nice knowing
you're in love with someone who loves you back.
I thought I'd embrace this positive energy today with an uptempo soul number by Al Green.
Love and Happiness wasn't Green's most famous number, but it certainly captures my feelings for my lady.
