due to weather & swell and a day spent counting slugs (for SCIENCE) and not photographing them, I didn't have so much time with the camera in the tidepools this month. I've finally started considering getting a DSLR. This will involve a huge step-up in features from my film SLRs, as they are both manual-focus ... i got them in high school and college, and i put all my money into good lenses, not features on the camera bodies ( Read more... ) -
Lick Fire
"It's just like LA!"
I took this picture of the smoke from the Lick Fire at the wharf a few hours ago. The smoke has since continued to build up, and the edge of it has drifted further northwest. The sunset is a lovely but strange color of yellow-orange right now.

Brian got a new camera ....
and a housing to go with it... he's getting better scuba pictures, and now i just need to get him to buy strobes so his flash photos aren't all flattened out. 8 dives since june 15, with nos. 63-65 logged yesterday.
meanwhile, here I am navigating us through the kelp on a nice day at point lobos.
