Dear Livejournal, someone just posted on a 7 year old post I made about going to their wedding. I'm amazed at just how long I've been using the internet. For perspective, I think I've had my yahoo account since about 2002, Livejournal since 2004, Facebook since 2005, my gmail account since 2006 and I hopped on the twitter bandwagon back in 2007. In the meantime, I've lost access to both my USN, Kenyon College, and APSU email addresses as well as letting my stupid.com and hotmail addresses go fallow along with my
myspace page. Oh, and let's not forget
http://enamel.50megs.com/ ,
http://lemurbouy.blogspot.com/, and of course
http://judgecreation.blogspot.com/ . Wow. That's a lot of debris to have out there and I haven't even begun to think of the forums I've joined and abandoned over the years. What will any children I have think of me if they ever go hunting for evidence of their father? I remember many years ago when I was infoseeking or altavistaing my name, I found a reference to me on someone's online journal. I think this must have been about 2001 or 2002. I was absolutely amazed to find myself mentioned in so off the cuff a manner and to have that preserved in cyberspatial amber. To come back full circle, I would highly recommend folks not check out my oldest livejournal posts because I was under the impression at the time that the best thing to do with it was to post essays for class because I thought somehow that Livejournal preserved the formatting better than emailing to myself.
How bizarre, Livejournal. You're a good friend and have been for quite some time it seems.
Yours truly, Leeman
