Bull shit! That's what all this nonsense about Dick Cheney is. "Why wasn't the public informed sooner!?" Okay if every time Dick Cheney hiccups anthrax is released from his uvula then yes people should be alerted. If Dick Cheney is raping smurfs then by all means plaster it across the news. If Dick Cheney's farts have been responsible for every earthquake in California since the dawn of time then something must be done. But if Dick Cheney accidentally shoots his lawyer friend in the face with a BB gun it is most definitely not America's concern. A homicidal maniac was elected vice president I demand that action is taken!! PLeaaaaaaaaaaaase. I didn't even know Dick Cheney could walk let alone hunt. I have never once heard this man speak. He's as old as dust and seems like one of the most innocuous politicians ever. I always thought that Bush wanted someone older and more socially awkward than him around just so he could look better. Or to get votes from people with grandpa fetishes. But even if I'm wrong and Cheney isn't so innocuous, I still don't think the situations deserves much more than a low key announcement to give every late night comedian some material. It most definitely does not merit an investigation. His friend got "peppered" with some buckshot. Peppered which is synonymous with sprinkled or showered is not a word one can use when trying to make a big deal out of something when by using it they show just how big a deal it isn't. One perfect example of how merit-less this whole thing is. So Cheney's friend gets hit with some BBs - not the White House's problem!! Why does the White House have to be investigated for not reporting this sooner? It is not their job. A police investigation of the event is also uncalled for. Is Whittington pressing charges? No. Is the ranch it took place on pressing charges? No. So the police cannot go in to investigate on their own and decide whether or not they should press charges.
Why do we need to know if they had been drinking or not? I'm certainly not concerned. Was Cheney drunkenly walking the streets of D.C picking off children? The American public was not in danger, so who cares? Bird hunting is mostly something old rich white men participate in so that they can get away from their nagging faux-philanthropist wives and drink in the middle of the woods. If this was such a big deal and Cheney was so wasted and malicious then I think his friend would be complaining. Look at it this way, Harry Wittington got shot by a BB [I've been nailed many times by BB fire and each time I mistook it for a beesting..] on a trip to get away from his regular life and now he gets to take a hiatus and stay in a hospital with nurses fawning over him so that maybe just maybe somebody with ask them for an interview. The man doesn't have to speak for himself in any of this and he gets out of work. He doesn't even have to look foolish!! Forget about how idiotic it is that he walked into the line of fire, no Cheney while squinting to pick a bird out of the sky accidentally hit some jackass wearing orange. He was wearing orange how did Cheney pull that one off!?! Here is where you laugh because I have just been terribly clever.
I just saw an article from latimes.com which says "The Cheney shooting and the Katrina response have raised tough questions about what the president knows, when he knows it and how the White House shares information with elected officials and the public." OH MY GOD this is going to give me a stroke. The "Cheney Shooting" is nowhere near the catastrophic proportions that Katrina was and I think the people in charge of New Orleans should be held more accountable than the president. If New Orleans decided that their main export was going to be heroin and child prostitution to be legalized and President Bush stepped in to stop it everyone would say that New Orleans' business is New Orleans' business and he needs to leave his big white nose out of it. Last time I checked Bush was neither a meteorologist nor a carpenter so what the hell was he supposed to do? We gave all our money to the tsunami victims. Why don't you start flipping out about how other countries have abandoned us when we've always been there for them, huh?
This entire thing is ridiculous. Cheney was enjoying one of his hobbies on his day off and two old men pulled off a typically old man fiasco. I actually hope they were drunk. And if they were then they aren't the first and certainly won't be the last. Its goddamn bird hunting for christ's sake. I don't really drink but I think if I was sitting in the woods in February waiting for a bird I'd better be drunk.
I think the public should ask why the media treats them like they are idiots. Yes that's right masses, you haven't noticed it yet but the media thinks you are stupid and this whole mess illustrates it.
