ginger god blues
I want to do a study on red-headed gods. There's this weird parallelism with certain deities having red hair--Seth and Loki, for example--where they also have other similar attributes, and I want to see how far those attributes go. One significant similarity is that they tend to be part of pairs--Seth and Horus, Loki and Odin--and those dual gods also have similarities. My sticking point right now is Shiva. I know next to nothing useful about Hinduism and the attributes of Shiva specifically, and I'm having a really fucking hard time finding any good resources in the university library. If anyone could direct me toward a comprehensive, comprehensible resource on the god Shiva--possibly one that explains the difference between 'Rudra' and 'the Rudras' instead of just throwing those terms out there for me to trip on--I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe something less concerned with theological interpretation and more concerned with Shiva 'as is.'
