Abby was over for her brushing again yesterday, and a bath since she has been rolling around in her newly fenced yard.
She should be done blowing her coat, but sure enough, she is still shedding excessively. Fearing that it could be worms, I called my vet to see if that would cause her condition, but the receptionist didn't think so. She was concerned that it might be something to do with Abby's medication and recommended that I tell the owner to bring Abby in for a visit to be sure. I've done this, and am keeping my fingers crossed for an answer, hopefully a pleasant one.
Those who have been following me at my personal journal at
birchrune know that I have been very ill this week with facial swelling, which I'm happy to say as almost gone away now. Yesterday when Abby was here, I still had some swelling around my mouth, but forgot about it instantly when Abby, dearest traumatized Abby, started to play with my Mook. I had her in the yard for a brushing break and was tossing a toy for my Toller puppy and Abby began to wag her tail and seem interested in the game of fetch.
I've been careful to toss the toys far away from Abby, because her behavior makes me think she might have had things thrown at her when she was in her abusive home prior to her new owners. Yesterday she watched with keen interest instead of being nervous and all of a sudden broke into a run and bowled poor Mook over.
Abby raced around the yard with Mook in hot pursuit and even though I was swollen I couldn't help grinning ear to ear. It was wonderful to see how far along this beautiful hound has come since being so terribly treated.
