Adelle didn't believe in fairy tales.
There were no knights coming to rescue the damsels she had stolen, no kiss could awaken the sleeping children who had pricked their fingers on her spinning wheel, who had sold their souls to her in order to ease the struggles they faced.
The woman surveyed the unhurried walk of the dolls. Victor's fresh scars glared at her from his place on the doctor's table. Sad, confused, frightened without understanding why. Lately she had begun to feel frightened too.
Adelle did not believe in fairy tales, but that didn't mean she wasn't a villain.
