Summary: Rogue was in an awfully good mood considering she'd been up all night. Part of Stolen Kisses, which I'll upload all together once it's complete.
Hearing Rogue grumble as she fiddled with the coffeepot, Remy crept up behind her and leapt, growling like a wild cat as he pounced on her. His playful mood wasn't even phased when she turned abruptly and sent him ramming into the kitchen counter. He had expected it; she never took well to sneak attacks, and used it as an opportunity to propel himself up onto the counter where he grinned at her like a petulant child.
"Mornin' Roguey."
A smile tugging at her lips, she almost managed to keep a straight face before bursting into giggles. "Mornin' to you too, Sugah."
Dark circles under her eyes told him she hadn't slept well, and he wondered aloud at what she and the professor had been speaking of.
"Never you mind," her answer left a lot to be desired.
He watched her flit about the kitchen, in an unusually good mood considering how upset she had been the night before. The sun drifting through the sheer drapes on the window kissed her skin and warmed the back of his head.
His own phone buzzed from the pocket of the jeans he had thrown on that morning, and he pulled it out to find it was his new boss calling. "Y' know, Chere, I will find out what y' up to."
Hopping off the counter, he was surprised when she approached him and pressed her lips into his clothed shoulder, murmuring, "Ah won't be home tonight, Cajun. The professor has a job for me. Might take a few days, maybe even a week."
He began to protest just as the doorbell rang. "That'll be Logan. Ah have to go. Don't worry, Ah'll be back."
She pressed one more goodbye kiss into his shoulder, her smile warm as she took off.
