 Simply something that came out of my brain, perhaps induced by cold medicine. Not that I can't be a romantic sap without chemical intervention...

The obvious title for this poem would be "I didn't know" but that's just retarded. Suggestions welcome for a proper title.

that something could really 
take my breath away until
a thought of you
left me breathless

I didn't know heartbreak
was real until I thought
I might never see you again
and I felt broken
inside

I didn't know
that "love heals all wounds"
was more
than a trite phrase
until you came back
into my arms
and every pain I ever felt
melted away
forgotten
in your smile
