Eagle Fandom Appreciation Challenge - Day 7
Write a love letter - to your flist or circle, to Eagle fandom, to a specific person or people on your flist or circle, to fandom at large, to a character in the book or movie, to an actor in the movie, to whomever. Basically, share the love.
So this is my love letter to Eagle Fandom in all its glory, especially the ninth_eagle community
I've never belonged to an online community before in my life, i'll admit that i thought they were for nerds and weirdos who couldn't let go of their favourite characters. I could understand the need to write their own stories based on their movie/tv show/book of choice because, lets face it, who hasn't come out of a movie or read a book and wanted to carry on and find out what happened after the cameras stopped rolling or the author finished his book? I know i have, but just in my head and that's where it stayed.
One day I stumbled into this community by accident and the rest is history. I was totally hooked. I rushed out to get the book and the dvd and fell head over heels in love with Marcus and Esca. I read stories that were so good i would have paid money to read then as published works. Amazing artwork, resources that were really interesting, the community was full of stuff and i was like a child in a sweetshop.
I wanted to write something of my own but was a bit reticent to post it. What if it was total rubbish and everyone hated it? But when a Fanmedia Challenge was run, i decided to join in and it was great. I had such fun and people wrote lovely, encouraging comments. I know i'm not the most prolific writer but I'm still working on some stuff and i hope to be here for a long time to come.
To everyone who has written fic, created artwork, posted resources, thank you for providing me with hours and hours of pleasure.
To the moderators, thank you for all the work you do behind the scenes.
To those who run challenges/fests etc, thank you for all your efforts in providing us with fun things to do.
To Rosemary Sutcliff, thanks for creating such awesome slashy characters in Marcus and Esca, and for the host of great supporting characters.
Lastly, to everyone who has ever commented on my fics, thank you for taking the time to make me feel i'm worthy of being here.
