My family isn't perfect: A photo essay

Oct 22, 2014 15:06

I was recently singled out as thinking that raising children was all rainbows and unicorns.

The dark truth behind living with the funniest people in the world is this: they have flaws. Some things, I'd go so far as to say my kids and husband suck at doing.

They fail at dressers.

They fail at putting away camping equipment. (Going on three weeks, people.)

They have no future in the library shelving arts.

They can't use chairs.

Baking.

Taking out the recycling.

Judgment.

Storing produce correctly.

Selecting age-appropriate reading material.

Raising pets that can easily discern what is edible.

Sometimes this one can be kinda sketchy to grease the wheels of progress.

This one would argue with God until He said, "Jesus, Ezra, FINE."

This one is straight up bonkers.

Some of it is because they are susceptible to bad influences.

Or maybe because of slight misanthropic tendencies. (Yes, it is a hat covered in people impaled on spikes.)

At any rate, I just feel like we all need to be honest here, and I didn't see any rainbows OR unicorns. In fact, I barely have time to eat my bon-bons.

Sorry for the yearlong hiatus, LJ-land. I've mostly migrated to Facebook and this year has been difficult, to say the least, but we're still kicking. At any rate, Pipistrella and I will erelong be posting on our own blog, coming soon at PipAndLemon.com.
