"There you go, problem solved." Shaun said with sense of accomplishment.
"Thanks daddy S!" Cody shouted, happy that his crayons were sharpened once again. Cody was hopelessly disappointed when after he got home from school, he found that most of his crayons had been worn down to a nub, it was hard to stay in the lines with a nub. NONE of his pictures looked nice. They looked like a baby drew them. Cody was most assuredly, not a baby.
He wandered out of his bedroom into the living room where his daddies were kissin' on the couch, again. He huffed and stomped his feet to get the men's attention.
Startled, Zach and Shaun pulled back from the mini-make-out they were partaking in, to see what was making the noise. Zach saw Cody standing in the arch of the hallway with his arms crossed. He nudged Shaun with his shoulder and motioned to Cody so Shaun could see the problem.
The full on pout on Cody's face and the angry stance, led Shaun to take action.
"What's the matter Codes?" Shaun said. He was already standing up from the sofa, and was making his way to where the pouting 5 years old was standing.
"All my crayons, don't have any points on them, so i can't draw nice pictures to put on the 'frigederator."
"Refrigerator." Without thinking, Shaun immediately corrected him. He was met with a glare from the 3ft. something child at his feet and a laugh turned cough from the sofa.
"All right, well lets go get them, and maybe if we ask real nice, we can use daddy Z's extra special crayon sharpener." Cody quickly nodded and raced down the hall to his bedroom to retrieve the wayward coloring devices.
Shaun followed at a much slower pace, grabbing a Ziploc bag from the kitchen, to carry the crayons into Zach's work room, as the sharpener was mounted on the wall.
Cody and Shaun filled the bag with the dull crayons and made their way back to the living room, where Zach still was seated on the sofa with an amused look on his face.
"Daddy Z, if me and daddy S, promise to be really, really, very careful, can we use your sharpener? Please?" Cody said in all sincerity, adding the 'please' to sweeten the pot.
"If you're really, really, very careful and listen to daddy S. Yes, you can use it. Thank you for asking." Zach replied to Cody. He leaned forward and kissed the smooth forehead of his 'son' and shooed him over to where Shaun stood next to the work room door.
Cody walked into the room with his head held high, ready to show those crayons whose boss!
