So, I hopped on to Amazon and went to check out the books that we're using for my html and javascript class... And I can't say I'm surprised by the ratings people are giving them.
HTML Complete Concepts and Techniques, from the Shelly Cashman Series... A rating of 2 stars, with 7 1-star, 4 2-star, 1 3-star, and only 2 5-star reviews (for a total of 14 reviews, so half of them were 1-star...). All of the negative reviews commented on the insane number of mistakes and typos, not to mention the inconsistencies.
And the javascript book is even better!
JavaScript Complete Concepts and Techniques, from the same series. A rating of about 1.75 stars, with 11 1-star, 2 2-star, 1 3-star, 1 4-star, and no 5 star ratings (for a total of 15...). And at least a couple of people say they would give it 0 or negative ratings if possible!
...Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to the rest of the semester with these books. Think I'll work through the rest of the assignments as quickly as possible, finding a decent reference for the javascript if necessary, participate as much as I can, and then tell the instructor exactly what I think of the books at the end in the course evaluation.
