Back when we were learning polite commands in Japanese class (for example, "yonde kudasai" (please read))... someone said "shinde kudasai" (please die) when we were practicing, just as an example. It's properly conjugated and all... but Sensei (who is Japanese) told us that it's not natural to say that. We actually had a short discussion about whether there would ever be a situation in which you'd use that particular phrase... like with a polite killer or something like that. Sensei insisted that no Japanese person would ever say something like that (I'm assuming she thought someone killing someone else would be less polite ^_^), and that we students should never have reason to use that particular phrase. ^_^
Oddly enough, while I was reading chapter 11 of Kohitsuji Hokaku Keikaku (just for fun ^_^)... I came across this exact phrase (well, with a name added to it...). And it reminded me of Sensei and that conversation. Apparently Minami Haruka doesn't agree with my Japanese teacher. ^_^
...Now what would be even more fun is if I were to run across some super keigo-ified "please die." I'm not gonna even try to come up with one myself...because keigo and I don't get along well at all. ^_^; I understand it in general...but I have a hard time remembering how to use it properly. ^_^ Stupid keigo.
