To start off, a not-so-happy Singles Awareness Day to everyone out there. (Or I guess maybe happy Valentine's Day to those of you with significant others... >_<) I'll be spending my day reading... and the book I'm in at the moment is rather non-romantic. (Though another book I'm reading is erotica with a hint of sci-fi, which I guess might be considered somewhat romantic. ^_^;; ) Oh, and taking a trip across town to get some more yarn, because I ran out of the dark brown for Evan's afghan. (Maybe because I also used it in some other projects, including the messenger bag. ^_^; ) And beads for Owen's eyes. And probably some yarn appropriate for making pale-skinned amigurumi. In terms of skin-tones I only really have dark brown and the medium brown I used for Owen at the moment. ^_^;
So, anyway... some yarn updates, since I spent a good chunk of the weekend crocheting. ^_^; Today I have multiple hearts, a couple of bracelets (some with other uses), and a bag to share! With pictures, so hit the cut for details!
First off, an amigurumi heart I improvised. It's not perfect. The top part could stand to be a little better defined (deeper valley between the humps), the bottom got funky, and it's a little overstuffed. ^_^; But I like it.
Next up, some more hearts, these from a pattern. I didn't feel like going Valentine's colors, so I didn't. To be honest, I'm ready for fall already, and we haven't even hit spring yet! So we have fall colors. ^_^;
First bracelet. This is a chunky bangle type bracelet, with ridges! ^_^ I rather like it.
Next are the not-really bracelets. These are actually bookmarks, of the book thong type. But the loop at the end is there so you can pull the motif end through and wear it around your wrist while you're reading. ^_^ Maybe if I do more, I'll actually use the thread that they're supposed to be made with instead of sock yarn. But even so, I like. ^_^
And finally, my project/stash bag. I believe I mentioned this in an earlier post. It's done now (finished that same day, actually, I think). I was running out of dark purple, so I made the handles in a different color. It's a good size. I think rather than using this for yarn storage, I'll mostly be using it for current large projects. At the moment it has the unattached pieces of Evan's afghan in it. ^_^
And that's about it. I'm in the middle of a sock yarn scarf, a baby blanket ('cause I have some baby yarn that just doesn't work with any other projects), Mom's new pair of mittens, Evan's afghan, some pairs of fingerless gloves that I really should finish, a funky soccer ball-like object in red, black, and white, and probably something else I've forgotten. ^_^; But today is for reading.
