Still going through the writing, though I got sidetracked reading my 2006 NaNo. Another year I finished up with something different, though this one made it to 30,000 before I decided to work on something different as well. I'll probably try to work on it some more in the near future, since I kinda do like it... But yeah, this particular story has some... "different" parts to it. Such as this "Chapter 4.5" that I had forgotten about... Titled "A letter from the Dark Empress to her not-so-dark sister." ^_^
A letter from the Dark Empress to her not-so-dark sister
Dearest sister,
How are you doing these days? I haven't heard from you in years, since the birth of your baby boy, I think. I thought I would just try writing you to keep you informed of my life and in hopes that you might keep me updated on yours. I hate to feel like I'm losing touch with you when we used to be so close.
I've been terribly busy recently. I had to put down a peasant rebellion - asking for the right to keep their children at home of all things! - a few months ago, and I have been up to my ears dead bodies since then. My chimera simply cannot eat enough to dispose of them all, so I have had decaying corpses littered around my lands for the last month. It stinks to high heaven, and I am starting to grow weary of it.
Unfortunately, my latest toy has run away. He says I am too demanding and that he didn't come to my side just to get stuck running an evil empire. I'm not exactly sure what he thought he was here for in the first place, if not that, but he ran away shortly after the rebellion, one of a string of six or seven in the past year and a half. That left me with no one to act as my eyes and ears in the troops, so I have had my hands full trying to keep them in line myself. Thus, I had no clue that the chimera were not able to handle the dead bodies, and before I knew it my castle was overrun by rotting corpses.
I will need to find a new boy to play with, one who understands from the beginning that he will have to work to make it into my bed and stay there. Don't you think that is the best way to go about these pesky administrative tasks? To let a pretty boy do it for you?
How is that husband of yours doing? What was his name again...? Leonard, was it? Or was it Lionel? It was something cat-like, wasn't it? Or am I thinking of Tralla's man toy?
Anyway, I would love you tell you more about my life recently, but I can hear the steward calling for me. Something about the chimera attacking one of my greater minions or something like that. I cannot allow that to go on. Good minions are hard to find these days... but guess you chose to make your own, didn't you?
Love,
Lady Arashia, ruler of the Dark Empire of Koxinor
The sad thing is... I only vaguely remember why I had this in the story in the first place, since no one even slightly related to this letter had even been mentioned yet. But even if I don't have the same reason anymore, I do have an idea. ^_^
