So, this morning brings two completely unrelated happenings that just suck.
Yesterday my mom woke up a little before her normal time, and she had to go to the bathroom. So instead of waiting for her alarm, she got up and headed for the bathroom. The downstairs bathroom (her bedroom is in the basement) is set up in a way that you have to get behind the door to turn on the light. She was doing that, and all of a sudden she just got dizzy and started falling, and she ended up crashing into the toilet. She got a cramp after that and laid there for a while until she could get up. (I was awake, but I was upstairs and had my door closed, and I had no idea anything had happened...)
So... she had a huge bruise and was really sore and stiff all day yesterday, but that seemed to be just about it.
At about 3:30 or so this morning, there came a knock on my door, waking me up, and Mom told me to come out and help her. She wanted me to come with her and Dad to the emergency room. She woke up, and when she turned over in bed, everything started spinning. She had laid there for a while, hoping it would go away, but it didn't, so she woke Dad up, then me, and we took off for AMC.
We're home now. They diagnosed her with mild vertigo and gave her some prescriptions that should help with that. They did a CT scan to make sure it wasn't anything major with her brain (stroke, or something like that), but those came out good, so they sent us home with the prescriptions, and said if it persists more than a couple of days, go see a doctor.
Needless to say, Mom's not feeling the greatest right now. We haven't gotten her medication for the actual dizziness yet (we're going to do that a little later this morning), and the dizziness is making her feel a little queasy. But she seems to be all right while lying down, so that's not so bad.
And now, for the other suckiness. When Dad went out to the car before we headed out, he saw that the light was on in his car. We hadn't been out there. And on the way to the hospital we realized the faceplate for Mom's stereo was missing... and the driver's seat was wet. Obviously, someone had been in there. But we couldn't really do anything about it right then, since Mom's health was a little more important.
We found the faceplate in the car when we left the hospital. But when we got home, we found that the satellite radio unit and iPod charger/fm transmitter was missing from Dad's car, and another iPod charger/fm transmitter was missing from my car. Nothing else missing that we've found so far, but the steering wheel cover in Dad's car had been taken off.
Considering the light was on in Dad's car just before we left, we think it happened right before we headed out. The cars weren't locked (we've never had issues around here, really), but needless to say, they will be from now on. Bastards.
