ZAMH Snippet

She crouched down behind the overturned table and watched the horde stumble closer. They tripped over themselves in their haste to follow the trail of blood from her punctured ankle. Henrietta stared down at the gleaming, white bone through her haze of tears and suddenly, insanely, remembered that she was supposed to have a Calculus test today and that the English project she never started on had been due for fifth period. The first zombie reached the table and it did not matter that she had been planning to cheat of the smart Asian sitting next to her and had forged the note to get out of her fifth period class. It did not matter at all because the second had joined the first and had grabbed onto her leg with bruising force and both sets of undead arms began pulling her backwards. The first zombie, with half of it's head missing, latched it's rotting teeth into her calf and with its jaw shattered the bone. Her scream did not rise above the hungry moans of the monsters and another crunch was made by a third zombie latching onto her neck. Henrietta had been to truancy court three times, had served detention every other weekend, and had held a straight C average, but it did not matter, did not matter at all because Henrietta was now dead.
