In Lieu of Studying...

I've decided to blog :)

There's nothing too important to blog about at the moment, but, as the title suggest, I am shirking my duties. Well, the day started off rather unimpressive.  I woke up at the ass crack of dawn [which was actually 2  because of a small storm we had over here]. The reason I woke up was not the storm it was the puddle of water that was slowly inching its way into my room.

Okay, here is the whole rant about the water in my room incident(s). Well, my complex isn't one of the newest ones out there.  I live right across from the office, and am within walking distance to school. Its a nice area and I've had no problems with it until a storm hit. Well, this storm brought me face to face with the decaying window that illuminated my room. I contacted the office about the problem, and they said they had taken care of it.  Well...come to find out, the window was not the only problem.  The floor also leaked.  I don't mean a small spot where water was seeping in, I mean a puddle of water that would make a squish sound every time it rained. The second time I contacted them, they fixed the floor, and left the window.  In all honesty, I was happy that they took care of that, since I get out of bed on the side with the window. However, as the storms have passed, and I have contacted the maintenance on numerous occasions, my window goes unfixed. Finally, after the dripping kept me up [Marc slept right through it because he an anomaly], I asked my roommate to go to the office and politely inform them who pays the rent and what needs to be fixed immediately [i was taking a test and didn't have time to go myself]. The manager was dragged from her office and forced to look at the window/sill that was slowly deteriorating. She said that she would get someone to come look at it again today, but have yet to show up.  I don't want the maintenance to come look at it again.  They've told me [I know this is so Southern, but bless their hearts] that they cannot fix it.  Its a structural problem. How do you fix that? Uhm, contractors, or someone with some extensive knowledge of this issue.

Well, as I said, I took a test today, it was a Psych test. I didn't think I had been doing that well in the class.  Low and behold I was wrong. I got a paper back today...100. Boosch. AND I got test back from my Prevention and Control of Crime class, 80.  Up 8 points from the first exam.  I am liking these results.  I'm thinking I picked a good major/minor :)

Well today, I was forced out of PH, in the middle of watching Training Day [which seems to be a good film thus far] because of a gun threat on campus.  Apparently some kid overheard another person saying they were going to shoot a professor in PH, the building I was in for my classes for the day.  The building was evacuated and eventually, we were allowed back in as the cops stood there and seemed to do nothing of major importance.  All I'm saying is, with my limited knowledge of the CJ system and the regulations of an officer, I could have handle the situation better. Anyways, this is the second threat of harm to the school within the past week. It worries me that something might potentially happen at my school.  I mean, with the past history of threats and their effects on students...I don't know.  I just feel like this is leading up to something bigger. I wonder what type of person makes such a sick joke on April Fool's Day of all days to do something like that. Our threats have been spread on the campus as well.  Its been at the BAS and PH, they are clear across the campus from each other.  I mean if the threats were more localized, I wouldn't be as worried.  Then a threat could be watched at that given point, and extensively be overseen.  This way, I don't know where or when something will happen.
