It's all about presentation ... I agree with a lot of what you said, considering I'm writing my own comic book and stuff ... but it just depends on how they carry it off.
Wonder Woman tends to want to rush into combat ... settling an issue requires a fight when it comes to her; I like her a lot. I don't like Superman AT ALL ... while Batman is brooding and dark, with good reason, and Wonder Woman is ... for lack of a better term, a confrontational bitch ... Superman plays the boy scout role and annoys the hell out of me.
I like the idea of heroes being born out of revenge ... the X-Men want to make the world a better place ... but someone like The Bride from Kill Bill is a reluctant hero born out of her thirst for revenge ... she was an assassin, someone who changed her ways after discovering she was with child ... she withdrew silently from the Deadly Viper clan thingy ... only to have them attempt to kill her and murder her friends and fiancee.
She's not concerned with the law ... nor does she seem concerned about killing her victims in front of their kids. She's out for herself ... she's not out to make the entire world right, just her own life.
Perhaps I rambled and made myself sound stupid ... but I wanted to say that I agree with most of what you said.
Aw... I like Superman, at least in Kingdom Come. He's not willing to drop his own morals and abuse his immense power, and under no circumstance will he kill. Even in the end, well, I guess that would be spoilers. He's like that pinnacle of good, kind of like how the best Jedi are supposed to be (though the prequels made them pansies *coughs*).
