New Fic: Miracles in the Making (Merlin)
I have done it. I have plunged off the edge (of sanity) and into a new fandom. Yes, yes, you all saw it coming. Cookies for everyone!
Miracles in the Making is up at ffnet, and the AO3.
I have fought with this ficbit all weekend, essentially. It's totally meant to tantalize and explain - once, of course, I get to the second part of this trilogy. Cat is now out of the bag, it's the three-parter from my previous post.
Unfortunately, yes, that second piece will be awhile. It's going to be long(er). I'm ballparking my initial estimate at 15K for no reason other than that's a comfortably ambitious number for me right now. Not too intimidating, but not exactly a cakewalk given my current proclivity for baby stepping back into writing. I know exactly what I want to do with it and exactly how I want it to end. So of course the deuced thing is making me struggle for where, exactly, to begin. Do I orient you all first, give you some thoroughly confusing and distracting detail with the obvious foreshadowing and -
On second thought, I'd rather not be predictable (read = boring). Diving right in it is. Wow, okay, if I'd just done this little outward-written debate a little earlier, then I guess it would have been done faster.
Now, it's on to sorting the details. Yeah.
In the meantime, here's what else I've been poking at:
1) The next chapter of Snow and Mistletoe. I'm pathetic, it'll hopefully be done by this Christmas. I'm not going where I thought I - on second thought, maybe I am. You see my predicament?
2) A Place Called Azkaban. I'm just not feeling what's happening in the next part of the next chapter, more on that when I finally post it.
3) The first part of my Merlin two-for-one, which will be similar to this in that it's going to be a short, separate prelude to a longer story. The difference there being that I know more of what's happening in the prelude than the long story, and I'm still cranking out exactly what's going on in the prelude. But at least I've stopped changing titles and summaries around. (I'll take what little I can get.) Tossing around ideas for what to call this 'verse as well, because yes, I'm tripping off into alternate universes again.
And because I'm totally psyched and will be setting my DVR as soon as I get the hell out of this crap city for the weekend:
