Star Trek: I haven't seen any "real" previews for it, but I do know it's based off of William Shatner's book(s), which my mother read and said were fairly decent (cue in the "Ohhh" at the explanation of where I get my Trekkieness, love of books, and sci-fi-geekery...) So it's based on Shatner's books, and Leanord Nimoy helped with the film (producer? I think.) AND he's going to be in it, as well (I don't recall if William Shatner's making a guest appearance or not), so I'm actually fairly excited about the movie. As much as I loved TNG, the TNG movies were.... well, kind of crap, really (except Generations and really how can anyone resist Picard and Kirk together?) So again, yeah, I'm excited.

Terminator: Hmm. Perhaps I should watch the "Sarah Connor Chronicles" and maybe do a rewatch of the old movies... I know, I'm a bad sci-fi, Firefly-hangover fan if I haven't watched SCC, because hey, 'Summer Glau Kicks Everyone's Ass!' Though I doubt we'll get to see her in the movie, which is a shame.

Wolverine: OMFGSQUEE! Hugh Jackman..... mmmhhhmmmmmm. Though I heard 'Australia' kind of sucked. But the prettiness! I've known the movie was in the works for a while--there's also a Magneto movie supposed to be in the works.

And does it really show my roots that I'm wicked excited about the fact that there's going to be a Transformers 2, and that I can't wait until the GI Joe movie comes out? And I'm kind of just waiting for when they announce that someone is going to make a He-Man movie? Oh! And Ghostbusters 3!

Right. I'm going to shut my mouth now before I keep digging myself into a deeper and deeper hole.

(Also, I finally got around to watching SPN 4x10 last night.... I think I maybe was a little too happy when Alistair got his hands on Ruby... And was I the only one feeling the Castiel/Anna thing? And DAMN those boys can act!)

I'm definitely a big Star Trek fan - TOS mainly, but TNG has been growing on me, especially the episodes with Q. I am kind of worried about a new movie, though. The only Star Trek movie that I've seen and liked was "The Voyage Home" - otherwise known as "The Save the Whales One." And yes - my parents were obsessed with Star Trek long before I was born, and they were the ones that passed that love down to me, though largely in the form of James Blish's novelizations of the episodes; not many places have the original episodes, though I've recently found them all online at http://www.cbs.com/classics/star_trek/.

Just to prove my utter obliviousness at more recent pop culture, I haven't actually watched the Terminator movies at all, and this despite living under the Governator for several years before we moved to Wisconsin. I do want to see "Wolverine", though. The third X-Men movie wasn't my favorite (where'd Nightcrawler go? I mean, he's German, Christian, can teleport, has a tail - what more could one want?) so I'm really hoping this one lives up to its potential.

Thinking about 4.10 - I was really annoyed at a number of the implications about God and angels in that episode, so I'm kind of glad I didn't pick up on any Castiel/Anna thing as well; though, truth be told, I've been having a really hectic time at school so haven't actually watched the whole episode, just some YouTube clips and the rather extensive summary on IMDB. So anyway, those implications annoyed me enough that I went ahead and wrote out nearly an entire dissertation (or at least a page or two), when I ought to have been researching the housing situation in Russia instead, all about my conclusions about Anna and exactly why and how she was lying the entire two episodes. If anyone's interested, I can post that here, but it got kind of longer than I intended.

Zarz

P.S. Random fun thought - Castiel is played by Misha Collins. Misha is the Russian nickname for Michael.

I've always loved Star Trek IV. But 'Wrath of Khan' is really fantastic as well, and so's the first one (I'm a geek--the concept of "V-ger" is just too good to ignore). And as I said before, "Generations" is absolutely fantastic. Q is also a great character, but I think the thing I like the most about TNG is that they didn't try to type-cast any of the characters; Picard is very different from Kirk, Richer isn't based on Spock, Geordi isn't Scotty, etc etc. Yeah, you've got the same type of people (Data instead of Spock, etc) but there are enough differences that it's not just a remake but an extension. And the only book I really remember reading of my mother's was one of the TOS books, where Kirk and Spock ended up on some planet where the people were actually like... velociraptor type things. It was strange.

I'm kind of a Wolverine fan, myself (um, Hugh Jackman in tight jeans? I'll take one of those, thanks.) The third movie was okay, but I think I liked the second one the best. Everything with Jean just got a bit too bizarre in the third one, and never having followed X-Men as a kid, I just... don't care enough about following the comic.

Yeah, I had a lot of issues with 4x10 as well. So now the boys have a renegade demon and a renegade angel on their side, Sam's shagging one and Dean's shagging the other (in the back of the Impala! Eek!) I don't think Anna was lying, not the way Ruby lies, at least, but a lot of the Castiel/Anna I felt came from the way he looked at her, the way he acted and didn't want to have to kill her, and then when she disappeared at the end... Well. Yeah. Just, a lot of unspoken interaction there (and damn, Mischa Collins is an awesome actor!)

Phew. I should go back to checking numbers now, shouldn't I?
