SPN 4x01: "Lazarus Rising"

I know I'm a little late I knew I was going to miss it and so I TiVo'd it and then yelled at everyone who interrupted me and chased them all away and bitched at the people telling me to turn the volume down and contain my squee - but OMG I loved it! *bounces insanely, squealing wildly*
*breathes* Okay, as I am a spoiler-free zone (while I will enable, I will not actively spoil), all I can say is OMG I _hope to Kripke_ that this is true and not one of those twisty-turny long-cases things again where you think one thing and then it turns out to be a trick.
Also, return of the T&A. *whines* At least this time it's not blonde, but I may have to revamp my "evil vs. good" tally, where I note the ratio of blondes vs. brunettes who are evil. Can we get an honest redhead on the show, please?
First. OMG DEAN! and then, OMG SAM!! and then, OMG DEAN AGAIN!!!
I would marry this episode if I could. And then be polyamorous with most of the rest of SPN too, but this ep especially.
Also: Did anyone else catch the serious amount of muscle Jared Padalecki has put on between this ep and S3, seemingly? I'm showing my shallowness here, but yes, that did snag my attention for his opening scene.
Someone comment at me so I can really get into this ep! Oh, damn, I'm putting it under a cut. I can't contain this; I'll explode if I try.
OKAY.
1) YAY DEAN! I already knew this, of course, but it still deserves its own bullet point.
2) The next thing that really caught my attention was the return of Ruby. Sh*t. I mean, yay different actress and also not blonde, which was _really_ grating on me before, but. Now that I know it's her, it puts the opening scene with her and Sam in a very different light. The fact that they know each other well enough to play so smoothly off one another scares the sh*t out of me. SAM WHAT ARE YOU DOING! At first I thought it was just another aspect of the "Sam becoming more like Dean" thing - but I didn't totally buy the "Sam is doing random hookups" thing; I was so embarrassed for him and it seemed so out of character that I was blushing and not looking at the screen. So I mighta missed something, but I stand by my misgivings. But I woulda been happier with the random hookups than with the rapport between the two of them. And - I seriously hope there's no sexing going on there, because, ew.
3) Sam's psychic powers, the return thereof and the "sending demons straight to hell" - as in, "I CAN SEE HELL GLOWING THROUGH THE FLOOR!!" aspect of it. I am scared for him. I'm wary, and suspicious as hell. I know Ruby was working her own agenda last season, no matter what lines she was spinning. I trust her about as far as I can throw the Impala. She's got an angle, and she's a demon. THEREFORE, LIES! It seems that he's doing something good with his power, but still. Wary.
4) YAY IMPALA!! Only, SAM WTF with the IPOD and the EMO!CRACK music?!?! If you've been letting Ruby sit in that car, you and I are going to have words. And greater muscle mass or not, I will kick your @$$.
5) Yes. I totally caught that Dean's amulet was missing, right at the start. And I was thinking Sam might have it on him. AND THEN HE DID. *awwwwwwwwww!!!*
6) Castille (or whateverthehell his name is). IF HE IS FOR REAL THIS IS THE AWESOMEST DAMN THING ON THE PLANET OMG. If not, then I'm scared - because people do awful things for religion. But Dean's too suspicious to fall for it easy, though he is capable of belief. (see "Houses of the Holy")
7) The frigging awesome parallelism with the "we've got work to do" line that always appears somewhere. Here it being "we've got work for you to do".
8) One thing that did upset me was how the boys are going it alone for a bit now. I mean, obviously Dean was dead and Sam was clearly either given up or resigned to it, but I'm sad that they're so . . . off and not synching together. It's going to take time. But I have the feeling that, if they end up as separated as this might make them - Dean charged by an actual angel to do something good, and Sam using powers with demonic influence/origin/something that Kripke really needs to clarify somehow soon! . . . I'mma cry.
9) Ruby's whole "He's your brother. I'm not going to try to get between you" speech. Okay, first - Bitch, please. Who exactly do you think you're fooling? You've been getting between them since the blonde made her first ugly appearance, S3 E1-style. *gags* Second. This _really_ sounds like a speech some girlfriend gives when she's got two best friends fighting over her. PLEASE don't let there be any sex involved. PLEASE. I love Sam, I do, even though I relate to Dean better. I may have to hate Sam, though, if he's dumb enough to be getting all emotionally attached to the demon. PLEASE, Kripke, PLEASE let her be evil. I don't think I could take it if she's not.
