After talking it over with Jan a couple of times, we decided to head over to Fort Myers and Bradenton this weekend to visit friends of hers. They'd been missionaries in Madagascar before settling down in Florida. Andrew's staying home to take care of Fluke, and Alex is coming with me. Jan's daughter Tori can keep her company.
Work is very dull. A lot of biopsies have been sent to the Duckworth lab in Tennessee, leaving me with little to do during the day, so I catch up on schoolwork that I'm generally too tired to do at night. So far this year, we've lost two dermatopathologists, Drs. Johnston (who left to work at Cleveland Clinic) and Camacho (who's taking a leave of absence for personal reasons) in Deerfield and the Miramar lab has lost Dr. Huo (who got fired in May), Dr. Rosenblum (transferred to a Quest lab in Pennsylvania) and Dr. Borkowski (transferred to a Quest lab in Tampa). I'm hoping to get a little information on the labs in Sarasota and Fort Myers, as I may be relocating later this year.
Went to the library last weekend and got several good books, including The Physics of Superheroes by James Kakalios, a physicist; Blood Lure by Nevada Barr. I also bought a book on astronomy called What's Out There, which is a collection of photographs of the solar system and various galaxies, nebulae, asteroids, and stars taken with some of the world's many telescopes, including the Hubble.
