What I'm Reading

Every week I go to the local library and check out several books, since I tend to read fairly fast. This week's selection includes:

The Gold of the Gods by Eric von Danniken. Seriously, wtf? What is this guy smoking?
First Contact, a collection of nonfiction and fiction by SF writers including Isaac Asimov and Ben Bova about what might happen if humans contact an alien civilization...or they contact us first. I've always wondered if the aliens, presuming they exist in the first place, will resemble the childlike humanoids of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," or the fuzzy plush toy-like Ewoks of "Return of the Jedi." Possibly they'll be like the malignant black oil of "The X-Files," the intelligent calamari of "Independence Day," or the homicidal xenomorph of "Alien."
Gray's Anatomy, borrowed from Dr. Johnston at work for my Anatomy class. I did the first four chapters of the fourth lesson on the nervous system tonight.
My Body: Women Talk about Health Care, a book published in 1995 which has a lot of relevance as to how women view and deal with the modern health care systems in Canada and the U.S. Women tend to be more holistic in their perception of health care, which is vastly different from how Western medicine is taught and practiced.
Mankind's Search for God, a book of world religions and their respective beliefs and practices.
The Republican Noise Machine, a book about media bias which turns into an apologetic work for Bill and Hillary at times.
Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, a book published to coincide with the exhibition now touring the U.S.
