We get up early this morning, having passed out at about 10 pm from being at the beach for the better part of the day. I'm so relaxed I don't even hear the kids arguing anymore. We decide to check out early and head to the Tanger Factory Outlet shops near Sanibel. The stores in this little strip mall include Ralph Lauren, Mikasa, Gap, Coach, and Liz Claiborne. I buy my son two polo shirts from the Ralph Lauren store, since that's his de facto school uniform now. My daughter gets a pair of sequin-encrusted jeans and a t-shirt from the Gap and I get three t-shirts and a blazer there as well. We eat lunch at a piano bar called Biddles that's across the street before I drive two hours home. It's a bit longer this way because shortly after we enter the far western portion of Broward County, I have to drive through blinding rain that narrows my visibility to almost zero. The sky is gray and cloudy for the rest of the day and before I go to sleep, I replay the image of the sunset the night before on Sanibel in my mind.
