We're back home.
I found tasty pastries at the market our last morning for breakfast. I really loved the fruit and cheese one I picked out. Everything fit in the luggage and made it home safe, unlike the suitcase, which made it home, but not safe. Fortunately, the suitcase took the damage instead of the contents. The airports have done sufficient damage to them that I'm going to retire them and get a new set. After the compression they've received, I don't trust them to hold up to another beating intact. The metal frame is no longer in its original shape.
I did have a delightful companion on the plane trip, so even though we were separated in our seating, I still had fun. She was a 6th grader and reminded me of me at that age, but with more talent. We got to talk books and art and I was able to give her a slew of authors to look into. I may even have given her some ideas to help on her debate topic for class. She was very thoughtful and asked if it would bother me if she took the meat option for lunch! Kids don't usually think of things like that.
My vegan food fare was surprisingly good. They served me basmati rice with white beans, broccoli and grilled vegetables in an herb sauce. It was not over cooked and the rest of the tray was likewise dairy-free, unlike the trip to Europe. The snack was a grilled veggie and pesto sandwich and grapes, all very tasty and I hear much better than the pizza they were providing others. It's nice to know they're starting to improve on food-fare on airlines other than British Air.
It's going to be difficult to return to the real world where work needs to be done. But that's what funds the trips, books, music, food, and fun parts of life. Back to it tomorrow. And maybe a little today, so I can actually get something productive done tomorrow aside from reading a week's worth of emails. Please let no disasters have occurred...
Eventually there will be a photo post.
