The Muppet Show
I was not actually cognizant of The Muppet Show during its original airings. (Given that it was on from 1976-81, that would have been a hell of a feat.) I do recall seeing it in reruns on Nickelodeon years and years later, though.
What I didn't remember, until watching a few episodes on DVD, was how mature and over-the-heads-of-children it was. Sort of ridiculously intelligent and hilarious in a good old-fashioned variety show kind of way.
I am ever more impressed. I love the Muppets.
