hmmm, this week is my spring break, so i'm home until wed, therefore, posting will be few and far between. anyways, my sisters are in high school and of course have kasmir polaski day off of school. now, it is a holiday celebrated in chicago and its suburbs...and not really alot of other places. any city, pretty much, with a significant polish population. private schools don't always get the day off, however. i went to a catholic grade school and public high school. in grade school, never even knew it was a holiday, and no clue who the hell kasmir polaski was. however, high school had kasmir polaski day...and it was beautiful. one more guaranteed day off of school. now, truth be told, i didn't even know who the guy was until junior year (11th grade). he was a polish military person, i think, who helped the revolutionary war. now, it's been 5 years since i've even thought of the damn holiday (didn't get it off in college either), but i spent all day with my sisters because of that lovely day. now, don't you think the kids should know what the holiday means if they get it off...i still don't know exactly what he did or anything, just general stuff, but he was a day off of school so i know his name and one sentance to explain him, kinda. ahhh, definately the public school system at it's finest... oh well, can't blame them i guess for not saying who the guy was, but at least we know his name...right? oh well, maybe i'll make my sisters look him up on the internet or something to annoy them. that is my rant...that is all.
